Lecture: Imagination and medicine: the next evolution of Depth Psychology
The language of science has been colonizing Jungian psychology since its beginning. To understand psyche, we psychologists have borrowed most of our metaphors from science; it is no surprise then, that we developed an inferiority complex! Ever since psychology insisted it was part of science, depth psychology became the side-show to the main event, which is supposed to be happening either in the gray matter of the brain, or in the genes.
Lecture Psychology of Heartbreak
Workshop: Shopping for the right archetype: Debunking old metaphors and tired fictions.
This seminar will attempt to demonstrate a basic skill in the practice of archetypal psychotherapy. We will:
1) Review the main ideas that informs the practice.
2) Through a series of exercises, we will experience the process of metaphorizing, in order to replace the outdated inner cinema with fresh imagery, to revitalize one"s inner life. Special attention will be given to the problem of interference by the therapist, a frequent mistake in the practice of imaginal approaches, of narrative therapy and of so-called life-coaching.

Lecture: The Dreaming Mind: Accessing a Playful Attitude to Life
In the presentation I propose to give a talk on the nature of the dreaming mind that allows us an alternative existence free from the constraints of the outer world. I will focus on the nature of memory in dreams and how the mind transforms memories into facets of the self. The dreaming mind can be playful. Play in dreams creates threshold experiences that carry over into waking life and encourage us to do things that otherwise would be impossible in ordinary life. With the help of dreams and clinical vignettes, I suggest that this attitude needs to be embodied in our culture. I will give examples of dreams to illustrate this process. Afterwards I will invite discussion.
Lecture: A New Icon of the Divine: Reflections on Jung"s Red Book

Lecture The hermeneutical tension between image and word - mythologically expressed: between the Icon and the Quran.
I will try to speak about the psychic connections between hearing and seeing on the level of what is experienced - language and images. An archetypal image of the image and seeing it is for instance the Icon and an archetypal instance of the words and hearing them is for instance the Quran. There is a - archetpyal, this is: on the conscious level unresolvable - dialectical tension between them . This dialectics, I will try to illustrate it by a Grimm fairy tale ("Rumpelstilzchen"), the work of a modern painter (Paul Klee) and the respective theologies concerning the Icon and the Quran. I will conclude with some practical implications for our work as analysts (dream - images ! - interpretation - words...- for instance) and, on the collective level, for our view upon our contemporary culture in which there is a quantitative inflation of words and images (media, internet etc) and where the dialectics word-image tends to disappear.
